When we first came to this café, there all the walls were grey. Defore us there was a task not only to improve the premises, but also to convey the spiriy of the name. the owner of the café Maxim told us his wishes and design ideas. On the wall there was a window with a cat, and Max wanted us to include it in our painting.
He gave us a lot of room for our fantasy and we began to work on sketches. We immediately decided that we would place the cat in one of the biggest houses and would look at visitors. Frankly speaking none of us was in Geneva then.
Having looked through hundreds of photos of this city we decided to create something fabulous. Certainly the European spirit and some features of the city can be seen in our painting. Max immediately liked our ideas and sketchers. And we started to work.
It was difficult to create a proportional composition because there was already a window with a cat. But we managed to collect the whole composition as a whole. The next day we drew everything that we outlined with one color. Then removing the scotch we proceeded to under-painting. We worked day after day till our painting came to life and the cat settled in its house.I want to note that it looks perfect there.
We decided to color the rest of the walls in stripes.
In conclusion, we decided to decorate the wall with frames of different sizes and shapes, but only one color – white.
We decorated the bar counter with stencils, which specially designed for this cafe.
We covered stencil pattern with silver leaf and added bitumen patina.
On the other wall we drew two boats and attached them with a real rope with a hook so they “wouldn’t float away”
It was fun and pleasure to work in this café. The stuff is very friendly and you can always have a good and tasty meal there.
